Flat in Battersea

A Graceful Blend of Color and Unique Details

This 2-bedroom flat, originally dominated by grey tones, felt impersonal and cold. Originally from Rio, my clients wanted their space to reflect the warmth and vibrancy of their home town by drawing inspiration from a Tropical Modern style, especially in the living room.

The layout transformation began with the introduction of a vintage Ludvik Volak room divider by the living room entrance. This created a secluded area where the TV could be hidden behind, while allowed for a much bigger sofa laid alongside the wall and completely redefined the space - making it feel both more intimate, but also more connected to the dining area.

"I would recommend Kika's services to anyone. The way she approaches projects and deals with clients is unparalleled. Her architecture background and highly creative mind coupled with a willingness to make the clients happy, ensures she'll always serve you with the most practical yet refined solutions. She's very open minded and would never shy away from a challenge. She will relentlessly try to give you great options for the design challenges that might emerge throughout the project. She's a great communicator too, which makes everything so much easier."

XWe replaced the existing boxy and grey armchair with curvy vintage Greaves and Thomas reclining chairs, which paired beautifully with the sofa. For the walls, we chose Ball Green by Farrow & Ball, which softened the grey kitchen cabinets and created cohesion between the spaces.

Finally, their existing wooden dining table was complemented by a copper-rose gold pendant light, adding balance with a sleek and modern touch.X

The mixture of textures, colours and materials made this dining area very inviting and cosy

The living area felt cohesive by using a similar shade of green for the fabrics of the sofa and armchairs. The bespoke hemp rug brought texture and warmth to the room, giving it a laid back yet elegant feel.
